Home Repair Services Confronts the Foreclosure Crisis

The national foreclosure crisis is hitting West Michigan especially hard. Thousands of local families are at risk of losing their homes in the wake of conditions that are reminiscent of the Great Depression.

At Home Repair Services, we are deeply concerned about the impact of foreclosure on individual families and our entire community. But concern isn’t enough. We’re also taking action.

Our Financial Counseling programs help about 1,600 families each year – one of the largest such non-profit programs in Michigan. We work directly with families and lenders to prevent foreclosure whenever possible.

Business also benefits. Lenders save up to $50,000 in related costs for each foreclosure avoided, according to a recent study.

If you’re a family worried about foreclosure, please select one of the links in our online resources box above right. Or call Home Repair Services at (616) 241-2601.

Home Repair Services counselors are trained under the requirements of the Making Home Affordable Program, and are able to discuss the required qualifications and applications with homeowners seeking this service.
